In our 1st newsletter we will tell you about our return show in St.Louis coming up in Feb.05
After an entire year off the true 3rd GEAR lineup is back. From a managers point of view, I see wounds healing and grudges being replaced with a new outlook. During this past year Robby attempted to continue as 3G without Wattsie & Eddie, after they had left, but in his own words "It just does'nt feel right". The majic wasn't there. The creativity of the Robby & Wattsie bond complemented by the unique pounding style of Eddie is what makes 3G . One jam session has already occured with another to follow soon. It should be just a short time before we are posting new shows on the schedules page. Also look for the 3G NEWSLETTER to resume shortly!
We have been out of the loop for the last few months due to some unforseen as well as unwanted surprises. However as always we regroup and keep going. Your going to see some new faces and hear some new material. Thankfully right before the down time started we had signed an agreement with a distribution company that stocked our CD "Just Add Milk" at all St.Louis area "Vintage Vinyl","Street Side Records" and"CD Warehouse" locations. That combined with the fact that "The River" as well as "The Point" continued to play our stuff on the air has kept us from being totally forgotten. We're working hard right now rehersing old material and creating new. We're going in the studio in March to record a new single that we will be giving out at shows as well as sending out to radio stations and venues. Keep an eye on this web-site as well as the STL Punk Page for all the new Poop on 3G as it occurs. Oh yeah the "Newsletter" will soon resume. If your not on the mailing list for this and want to be send your e-mail address to blkstone76@hotmail.com .

SEE EVERYONE @ THE PARTY!!!!!
Also our MP-3 page has been updated, please log on & take a look! We've left 2 songs from our "Switchin Gears" CD on there due to their popularity ( especially "Blame It On Me" which gets downloaded all the time) and we have thus far added 2 tunes from our new "Just Add Milk" CD with another tune to be uploaded every month or so.
The new release "JUST ADD MILK" is almost ready for mass duplication. The delay has been due to all the new material we kept coming up with and holding up of production till we could get the new material recorded. However now we're drawing the line. There will be 13 songs on the disc. It is now being mixed & mastered and will go to duplication in a matter of days. It should be released before June.
3rd GEAR has a new media format, in addition to this web-site, the Stl Punk Page site and our MP3site (which we are endeavoring to up-date,don't even go there now its ancient),we now are sending out a weekly e-newsletter. We will give information on coming shows, new songs, new photos going up on the sites, just anything that is happening with the band. So in order to recieve this letter just send an e-mail to the producer requesting to be on the list. Send e-mail to either-- blkstone76@hotmail.com or rob@3rdgear.net .
Last year 3rd GEAR traveled over 10,000 miles playing our new music from west coast to east coast. Now we have set our sites on the town that Rolling Stone magazine says is in the top 5 of cities with the best NEW MUSIC scene. With that goal in view we have taken up residence in downtown St.Louis, a stones throw from the Dome, and a short walk from the Landing. We will always be the original music band that came from Perryville Mo., and for now the Schemel Companies warehouse will continue to be the place where we go to create and practice new songs, but we are throwing our hat in the ring as one of St.Louis' own new music bands. Be sure and listen to 105.7 "The Point" on sunday nights 11:00 pm to 12 midnight as they are playing our stuff on the local show on a regular basis.
As earlier mentioned our goal is to have the new "JUST ADD MILK" CD in its professionally mastered form in retail outlets by early 2002 (hopefully January), however there will be one change on the list of songs that it will include. As we have mentioned and as you will know if you've been to one of our shows recently, our music is now mostly PUNK ROCK and the new CD will reflect that. In addition to this, this past week we rushed into the studio to record our newest song and what we believe to be our best accomplishment to date, having done this just in time before the material will be shipped away for reproduction, we will be removing the tune that was already on our first CD to make room for the new song. Therefore you will not find "Blame It On Me" on the new CD. To listen to this tune look for our "SWITCHIN GEARS" CD at Hastings or CD Warehouse or purchase POINTESSENTIAL Vol. 6 in any of the St.Louis outlets. By the way, thanks to 105.7 THE POINT in St.Louis for playing this tune on a somewhat regular basis. The new song that will be on the new CD and that we encourage you to watch for at our shows is "FALL APART".
Also a quick note about our controversial HOTCHICKS page. It was not and is not our intent to offend anyone with this light-hearted format. Our apologies to anyone that has taken it that way. That having been said, we encourage anyone who might find the material on this page offensive to please avoid it much the same as you would a movie that you do not approve of.
The band has undergone some significant changes in recent months. First of all, in the management area, we would like to introduce our new production company, "Blackstone Productions". This company will be handling many of the tasks that were formerly handled by Indigo Entertainment. We appreciate all that Mr. Gideon has accomplished for the advancement of the group and will continue to work closely with him in the future. However, the workload of keeping the band moving forward is quite a large task and we will now be looking to Blackstone to share the duties with Indigo. Contact information for both companies are--------

Another major change has been in the style of music that 3rd
Gear is producing. Due in part to the absence of former guitarist
Shannon Meyer and also due to the love that Matt and Robby have
for Punk Rock, most of what we are now recording is Punk Rock.
Therefore, we now consider ourselves a punk band. Due to this
change, many of the songs that were due to be released on the
upcoming CD that was to be titled "Help Me to Breathe"
have been shelved for release in future years, and the CD title
will be changed to "Just Add Milk". This follows along
the punk rock scene a little closer. Song titles that you will
find on the new release include-----------I Remember--I Didn't
Like Your Boobies Anyway--Intoxicated--Alright--German Girl--When
Will Things Change--Civil War--Cover Of the Rolling Stone--Blame
It On Me--A Different Hero--Listening To Me. "When Will
Things Change" is of course a re-recorded version of the
tune from our first release "Switchin' Gears".
"Blame It On Me" is a re-release, same recording, from
the "Switchin' Gears" CD. "Cover Of the Rolling
Stone" is our only recorded cover tune, a remake of the old
Dr. Hook tune. The other 8 tunes are brand spankin' new. We are
hoping to have this in stores by early 2002.
Here's a little info for those sending e-mails....
The New Date for the March of Dimes Benefit Concert has been set! The date is Sat. June 16th and the event will be held at the Perryville Parks Center. The current line-up has 3rd Gear, with special guests D.J. Pom and Polyduster. The times will be announced as well as locations to buy tickets.....Mark the date in your calender and be there!
3rd Gears announcement on becoming a power trio again:
We find it necessary to make the following statement. Due to
missed practices as well as unattended shows, Shannon Meyer will
no longer be Lead Guitarist for the band. Shannon remains, as far
as we are concerned, a close and dear friend. However the band
requires total dedication and cannot accept anything less. It is
our hope that what ever personal reasons are responsible for his
lack of attention to his position in the band will be resolved to
his benefit. 3rd Gear will not at this time be looking for a
replacement to fill this spot but will instead be performing as a
power trio.
Thank you,
Matt, Robby, Eddie
(this next info is old news,....but we figured people should still know!)
The armory in Perryville has informed us that they no longer will be making their facilities available for public use/rental, so the Show has been temporarily postponed. We were dismayed by the information, but thankful that they gave us ample time to inform you all (as opposed to the dealings with the K.C. Hall in which they decided to change the arrangements just days before the event causing it not to happen). The Good news is that the Perryville Parks department is being very accomodating in helping us not only reschedule the show at their facility, but seem to be going out of their way to help us take the event to an even higher level. The tentative date is May 24, a Sat. night. When all is said and done, Let's remember who our friends are....
The PRSSA convention show was a great success as well as a blast. One of the most exciting gigs I have personally witnessed and I've been to a bunch. Thanks to the PRSSA group for inviting us and we hope to see you again next year!
We have new dates being posted soon with gigs at the Blue note, Pop's, and Neosho again. We also will be announcing dates and locations for the shows in Joplin, Springfield, Cape, Benton, Columbia, Kansas City, Lesterville, Lexington, and Champaign as soon as the routing is finished. We should be announcing our date for a show at the Galaxy in St. Louis soon as well.
The Studio work is sounding great, We can't wait to get it finished so we can hit the road again more often.
We apologise to the people who had a delay when they ordered the DEMO CD, but we're getting them out as fast as we can, Soon you should be able to find it in a few retail chains, so it will be easier to get, but for right now we are back on track with the shipping so you can still order it here on the site. The new site is underdevelopment and should be finished soon...keep checking, we can't wait to see the finished version either!
Keep Rockin' Gearheads! Luv Ya!
